Miss Erika

Founder/Director of Nature Scouts Collective & Little Scouts Lead Teacher

Miss Erika is a credentialed K-8 teacher and early childhood educator with over 20 years experience teaching Preschool-2nd grade. She created this program when she saw a need in the community to provide a holistic, outdoor learning environment for children. She is so excited to have her ten year old daughter alongside her as a part of her homeschooling journey. She believes that learning occurs organically through children’s discoveries, passions and innate curiosities. She wants to instill a love of learning and create a community of like-minded families who share similar values.

About Nature Scouts Collective

What is a nature-based learning program for children?

A nature-based learning program uses the outdoors as the primary classroom environment. Instead of spending most of the day indoors, children learn through exploration, movement, observation, creative play, storytelling, hands-on projects, and real-world experiences in nature.

What are the benefits of outdoor learning for kids?

Outdoor learning may support children’s emotional well-being, creativity, confidence, problem-solving skills, communication, physical activity, and attention span. Many parents find that children who spend more time outdoors become calmer, more engaged, and more connected to the world around them.

How is Nature Scouts Collective different from traditional enrichment programs?

Nature Scouts Collective is a fully outdoor, small-group program inspired by Forest School and child-led learning philosophies. Children are encouraged to learn through curiosity, exploration, movement, creativity, and meaningful experiences in nature.

Are outdoor learning programs good for homeschool families?

Yes. Many homeschool families seek outdoor programs to complement traditional academics with social interaction, movement, hands-on discovery, and experiential learning. Nature Scouts Collective provides opportunities for children to build friendships, explore nature, and develop confidence in a supportive environment.
